How we Homeschool with ADHD

I have ADHD and so does my son. We are severely allergic to schedules. 😂 A few things I've learned:

1) Engage the Senses

I find with ADHD kids that pairing things works well to provide enough stimulation. My son hates handwriting, but if he can listen to a podcast at the same time, then he finds it much more enjoyable. Snack time is another great time to link an activity. Make yummy snacks and read poetry or do math puzzles. ❤️ And make sure to keep those hands busy during reading time!

4) Active Learning

For my child's ADHD it's all about being active and avoiding worksheets like the plague. I do a lot more learning through conversation, movement-based math, and so on. Shout out to @discoverwildlearning for her great math curriculum. Audiobooks are good for getting reading time in while on the go.

Our study guides are designed for neurodiverse kids and neurodiverse adults. They are graphically clear, provide many options, and emphasize active hands-on learning, often outdoors. Our pocket naturel journal is a great place to start. Or explore our huge guide “Dirt” all about the wonders of the soil. Check out our store for more details!
